Roads

As stated previously, roads are fundamental parts of society that not only connect them together economically and socially, but provide countless other opportunities for all parties involved, whether directly or indirectly involved with the building of the roads. We believe that denying third world countries of this core part of society would be cruel and unjust, and look to provide alleviation for this deficiency. To aid us in our efforts, we have provided below effective methods of constructing roads and affordable materials to be used in their implementation.

Factors we consider

While the following materials are common components of great roads, local materials/stones lower cost for imports and are naturally resistant to the weather around the area, making them situationally superior. Recycled materials can also reduce costs and contribute to sustainability.

Material

Concrete

  • can provide a cost effective way of building a road

  • Needs more repairs

  • Better traction

  • 18 years life expectancy

Material

Asphalt

  • tends to be more long lasting/durable

  • Holds heavy loads effectively

  • Requires fewer repairs

  • 25 years life expectancy

Method

Soil Stabilization

  • In-situ soil stabilization

    • Reinforces native soil with geotextiles crafted from synthetic materials that are strategically positioned within the soil

    • Enhance stability, structural integrity

  • Soil cement additives

    • Soil mixed with cementitious materials, bolstering their resilience to expansion, cracks, shrinkage
